Section 14 - Wing Rib Placing, Alodining, Priming, and Assembly
During this step, all of the ribs are deburred, and assembled to the
spar. The
ribs are match drilled to the spar, and the Flap brackets are match
drilled. The
Aileron Bellcrank bracket is created, and riveted in place. All
parts are primed,
and the ribs are riveted to the spars. I'm currently on hold in
riveting the ribs
to the spars, and have been spending time just deburring misc. parts
for future
sections. I have not been able to come to a final decision as to
the wing wiring.
My plan is to run conduit out to the tips, and then run snap bushings
in the right
wing separately for the autopilot, and snap bushings in the left for
the stall
switch. For conduit, I went to the local home store and bought
the blue
corrugated 10' sections of conduit, but looking at the dimensions, they
aren't the
same as Van's black 25' rolls of conduit. I'll need 2 pieces of
12' length
to do the job. One issue is that I don't currently have any wire,
or any of
the tubing for the Angle-of-Attack kit, so I have nothing to pull
through the
conduit. I'm thinking it's getting to be about time to throw in
the money
for the Autopilot so I can get that stuff mounted as I build. I
also plan on wingtip
strobes, and wing mounted HID landing lights. I don't own any of
this
stuff yet either. So, I just put it on hold. I'm going to
Van's on Aug. 23/24
for a demo flight in the -10, and I'll post the story here when I get
back. It's
a good time to look at some of the options first-hand.
