The fun continues ! Finished sanding/countouring the Windscreen fairing, I needed to buy another rasp because the fiberglass |
dulls these things soooo quickly, but it was worth it not having to expand all of the equivalent energy on sandpaper. I used the |
Blocking 1" hard rubber tube wraped in 40 grit to sand after the Rasp. Got a uniform and consistent shape. Sanded the upper |
bow of the windscreen/cabin top and layed up 1 ply of 3 oz cloth between plastic sheets, then cut 2 strips 45 " long and 1 1/2 " |
wide and layed them up over the plexiglass to cabin top seam. Prior to this I mixed some flox and filled any depressions as well |
as the holes I drilled for the 'fingers's to hold the windscreen in place while curing. I pullled the fineline tape on the windscreen |
bottom as it had gotten eaten up a little by the sanding, and I put new fineline tape down. then mixed up some epoxy and cabosil |
along with some toner Black and painted this on at the top edge of the windscreen fairing. I want there to be as crisp a black |
edge visible from inside the cockpit as possible. I don't know how opaque it will be after sanding down to blend/feather in |
tomorrow, but it's better than nothing. and should work fairly well. |
