Finished filling and sanding the Left door. retaped the window w/ Fine line prior to filling. Same stuff as before. Also retaped the |
Windscreen, as I noticed that the previous tape was a little off line and I didin't have the corners rounded. Ran new fine line |
around the perimeter and a double layer on the bottom edge. Then began the process of contouring the windscreen fiberglass |
fairing. The sides were EXTREMELY thick and had to be taken back quite a way. I used a wood rasp, which was good at taking |
a lot of material off quickly (relatively). That and one of the blocking blocks I picked up the other day is round (1"). I wraped a |
piece of 40 grit around it and went to town following up the rasp. I got about 1/3 of the windscreen sanded. I should be able to |
finish off the sanding/filing tomorrow. Then I'm going to retape the bottom of the windscreen with new fineline tape and then |
apply a mix of micro w/ black toner added to it. This is so that I'll have a nice black crisp edge visible from inside of the plane |
around the bottom of the windscreen. I've made an 8" radius piece of .032 alum, and after the micro cures and gets sanded. I'll |
use it to apply the Metal Glaze. So far with the sanding and the filing, it looks like there's only at most 1/16" of an inch of gap |
between the 8" radius and the fairing. I also need to add the fiberglass tape to the upper portion of the windscreen bow. |
