I final sanded the perimeter of the oil access door on the cowl. I had it REALLY close, but feared after paint it might be too close |
and end up chipping. So I widened the 'gap' a bit and used some 320 grit to slightly round the edges. I had the upper cowl on |
and off again several times getting ready to fill/blend it even with the upper fwd fuse. I also test fit the plenum today and found |
out to my dismay that the problems identified by at least 2 other -10 builders have NOT been corrected and the plenum intake |
rings are NOT aligned with the cowl intake rings !@#$!@$!!!!!!. Further investigation revealed that my cowl is NOT centered in |
the prop flange. !@#$!@$!!!. Lomng story short, I will need to add some fairing to the cowl prop ring on the left side of the cowl |
(aprox .125") I took several measurements to determine how this happened. I'm still not sure how, But I found that the front of |
the cowl is NOT symetric. The Right side is 3/8 -5/8" wider that the Left side !!!!!. This whole cowl/plenum decision has been one |
where I wish I had foresight instead of hindsight. I mounted the machined parts I got from Dave @ Rivethead for the Doors. |
THEY ARE FANTASTIC. however since I filled the pin portion of my door edges they protrude a bit too far and interferre with the |
doors themselves. I'll have to machine a little off their backsides. Finished up by mixing and appliing some flox across the upper |
fwd fuse to blend/match the cowl. Oh Yeah my FreeFlight WAAS GPS sensor arrived! |
