Some times you outrun the Bear ... and sometimes the bear outruns you.... this time the bear won ! On Sat. I tore out the |
headliner. It had developed some 'bubbles where the glue wasn't holding tight enough to the fiberglass AND the duct tape I used |
to hold it in place while it dried had some reaction with the vinyl and left a yellow stin on the vinyl that couldn't be removed. So off |
came the 'headliner' and I went to work with a squeeze bottle of Acetone 9relax John nothing got on the plexi!) and some paper |
towels removing the residue of the Pliobond. Meanwhile I needed to figure out what Plan B was going to be. I settled on a plan to |
paint the inside of the cabin cover with the same interior paint as the instrument panel. This will insure a perfect color match. I |
ordered some leather hides from Classic Aero Designs today. I'll used them to cover the door upholstery panels I made as well |
as the window trim rings. the bulk of the overhead console will be painted . On some of the larger flat areas I'll use some flexible |
upholstery panel/board and cut an attractive shape, wrap them with some leather backed foam and then glue/attach those to the |
Overhead. For the Aft/rear portion of the cabin cover. I'll essentially do the same. Cutting some upholstery board 2-3 " smaller |
than the ares between the ohead console and the longerons, covering it in foambacked leather and then attaching to the aft |
cabin cover. This should yeild and attractive interior with matching contracting colors the same materials as the seats and |
instrument panel, and no unfinished upholstered edges...... At least that's plan B/ |
