I finished masking the windows on both doors, and filled and sanded any remaining flaws that I could detect, and then fired up th |
ecompressor and the Harbor freight spray gun, and proceeded to shoot the perimeter of both doors, I applied 3-4 coats to each |
door, and then left them out in the direct sunlight to 'bake' throughout the day. I ran ang got on of the upholstered panels and put |
it in place on the door , and it looks good, I can live with this! Spent the rest of the afternooon fitting the glareshield I got from |
Greg Hale. I needed to buildup/extend the sides a bit in order to fit my panel, and so I attached an 8ply lay-up to the right side, |
and through a series of sucessive trial and error fittings, I trimed the extension so that it fits fairly well. i'm still going to have to do |
some cosmetic work to blend it into the door/cabin cover post. I started to think about how I'm going to attach the glareshield to |
the upper fwd fuse. Greg made it so that there's a slot that slips under and on top of the upper fwd fuse. If I can get the |
underside of the glareshield to fit flush with the top of the panel, I think I can use some type of blind floating nut/nutplate and |
screw into them from the underside, probably 3-5 blind nuts placed equidistant. Then I'm thinking of fabbing 2 'tabs' that extend |
1" from the front of the glareshield and use those to screw it to the upper fwd fuse. I can use the access covers to get nuts on |
the screws. and the tabs should get covered by the dash cover I'm planning on installing. |
