Spent yesterday and today, finishing the rear seat side upholstery panels. I had previously laid-up some fiberglass panels to |
finish this area. I remounted the aluminum bottom side panels after drilling a hole and installing a grommet to bring the headset |
jacks through so they can attach to the upholstery panel. I trimmed the fiberglass pieces to final size, Then located and drilled |
the holes to attach to the nutplates previously installed in the vertical bulkheads. Then I used some body filler to smooth the |
surface of the fiberglass panels , sanded that, then using the same spray adhesive I used for the door panels, I glued some of |
the same tweed fabric to the panels. I got some #8 oval head screws and some #8 finish washers from Ace hardware and used |
those to attach the panels to the fuse. Bit by bit the interior is beginning to take shape. I'll have some armrests made at the same |
time I make the arm rest for the center console, and cover the glareshield. this is in the same leather that the seats are covered |
in and should tie the interior materials together. I'm also considering installing some smaller / oval matching leather panels within |
the door panels and the rear seat side panels. |
