The main goal this week, is to get the interior of the doors perimeter painted before the painter calls for the plane. Since I went |
with the McMaster Carr door seal, I will need to trim back the interior upholstery panel so that it does not overlap with the seam |
between the door and the cabin cover. That's more area (about 1") than I had perviously allowed/prepped for, and it is |
necessary to go back and fill/sand/prime that larger area so that it will look nice when painted. But before starting the paint prep, |
I needed to do some fiberglass work on the aft hinge where I trimmed it (once again) to avoid interferrence with the gas strut and |
the bracket. I layed up a 2 ply 3 oz. cloth patch, cured it w/ Halogen lights, then sanded it, filed and blended it, and then applied |
several coats of smooth prime to the door perimeter using a sponge roller (4"). sanded all of that after drying, then mixed up a |
small amount of primer, and went back and filled some voids and pinholes. Dried/cured then sanded w/ 220 grit. It's now ready |
for interior paint (after taping off the window). Weather forcast is for thunderstomrs and high winds tomorros so won't et painted |
til Wed earliest. in between I began the job of cleanup the fuse from all of the dust that accumulated during the door seal prep |
phase. I got the rear half of the fuse, including the inside dust free, now for the rest of the cabin. |
