Once again, a lot of paint prep. I remounted the wheel pants and marked them all for at least 5/8" clearance around the wheels, |
then removed them and cut, filed, and sanded them to the proper clearance. then, back to the Flaps and ailerons, to fill and sand |
some 'dings'. with that done, I began to paint the inside of the cowls. I got some Epoxy rattle cans from Ace hdwr. BUT!!! after |
expanding a whole can of paint on the inside of the upper cowl, it became obvious that the fiberglass is EXTREMELY pourous, |
So much so that it required something to seal the holes in the weave. Paint alone wouldn't even begin to do it. Sooooo. Back to |
my favorite past time, Filling, good ole Metal Glaze, squeeged onto the inside of the lower cowl. I probably spent way too much |
time on this, but getting a somewhat aesthetic appearance around the nutplates on the lower cowl was a time consuming task, |
Anyway with the lower cowl filled and sanded, I went back at it with the rattle can epoxy paint, and this time the results were |
MUCH better. Moved on the the inside of the upper cowl and got it cmpletely filled and sanded. I need to pick up a couple more |
rattle cans tomorrow in the am, and finish off the inside of the upper. Then i've got some Smooth Prime apply and sand (ugh!) to |
do the the upper cowl where I built up the prop spinner ring to match . Tomorrow.... |
