I'm in RELAY HELL !!! For some reason, when I get close to a relay things don't go well. This a.m. I began to 'finish' the |
installation of the Door Ajar warning system. I connected all of the Left door components per the schematic, when I tested them |
it wouldnt' work. I naturally assumed there was something wrong in my wiring, so countless hours and continuity checks later, I |
swapped all of the wires over to the Right door relay and Viola!!! another bad relay, Now what's the probability that of 3 relays I |
have in my possession I would find 2 of them to be bad within 3 days????? A quick trip to Checker Auto where I picked up |
another, back home with it installed another test and NO JOY ! IT turns out the there is a 'minor difference in the relay I need and |
the one @ Checker. More Internet research, I finally locate the right relay 30 mins away, another trip, back home, install, |
and........ NO JOY!!!!! ????? I started doing continuity checked on all of the components and it appears thet the Reed Switches |
which should be 'normally open' are closed?!?!?!? More research, found some replacements, another 1:30 into and out of town, |
and finally @ 9:00 pm I have the Left door warning light working per plan. The good news is that when I began relays and their |
function were a mystery to me. I now feel safe in proclaiming myself 'fully versed' in 12VDC relay operations and troubleshooting. |
In the process of getting everything to work, I broke the monting tab on the Right relay..... someday's it just doesn't pay to get out |
