Returned from RV-10 Transiftion training and some time off last week. Back at it today. I installed the Dsub connector on the |
Pitch servo cable and cut it to length and secured it to the sub-panel. then tackled the Fuel filter access panel. Began by cutting |
a piece of .090" 7" x 12" to serve as the doubler. After filing and smoothing the edges, I marked a 1" boundary around the piece |
and then trimmed out the inside. Used the high speed cut-off disc and then finished up with various files. Installed 10 #8 |
nutplates around the perimeter, I countersunk the #27 holes to receive the dimples from the access panel. I match drilled the #8 |
holes to a piece of .032" that I had cut to be 1/2 " less than the doubler. I drilled #40 holes in the perimeter of the doubler for |
rivets. I held the doubler to the inside of the tunnel and match drilled #40 the doubler to the tunnel rib, clecoing as I went. I |
removed the doubler and moved it to the outside of the rib and reclecoed, then used a fine point sharpie to mark the inside for |
cutout and removal. I used an air grinder with a cut off disc, and cut out the opening in the rib about 5/16" larger than the opening |
I had marked. reclecoed the doubler in place (on the inside) and then temp screwed the dimpled and primed access panel on |
the outside of the rib. Used a sharpie to mark the final perimeter of the access panel and trimed accordingly after removing |
doubler and panel. primed everything, countersunk the doubler, dimpled the rib and riveted the doubler to the rib, then attached |
the access panel using #8 screws |
