Began today, by securing the compass to the center support brace w/ Pop rivets (the double sided tape didn't hold up). then I |
checked the wiring on the EFIS and Bob Newman's TCW intelligent power stabilizer. Used to keep the EFIS online during |
starting. When I installed it I only had a 7 1/2 A breaker, and the instructions call for a 20A. I wrote Bob and he said a 20A would |
work (Klixon only makes 20A max). I ordered one from ACS this weekend, and was planning on installing it before 1st engine |
start. I preoiled the engine, by removing lower plugs, pulling prop thru about 125 blades by hand, then connecting starter and |
using the starter to spin the prop until I got Oil pressure indicated on the EIU. It took about 4 x 10 sec. spins to get steady oil |
pressure to show. I replaced and torqued the plugs, then for the heck of it, I tried the starter with the EFIS on to see if it would |
trip the breaker or reboot (which I expected). To my surprise, neither happened. I began to get a bit excited, I put 3 1/2 gals of |
gas in the left fuel tank, Called Judy to come down to the airport, Ran over and rounded up Mickey, Jerry, and Wade, and when |
Judy arrived, with the lycoming operations instructioins in my hand, initiated 1st engine start. The1st 8 second attempt didn't |
produce a fire, so I reprimed the engine using the boost pump, and tried again, and WHOO HOO !!! Houston we've got liftoff! |
What a rush! all engine guages appear to be working, ran it for 5-6 minutes, mags check, prop cycles, Alternators are charging,, |
oil temp only got to 92 degrees. CHTs peaked at 330. Oil press 78psi, fuel press 27.2. Shutdown (fuel purge valve) No leaks! |
