Today I attached the rudder for the final time. That was fter taking it on and off 6 times to check and adjust the rodends to the |
correct length. I was short a couple of stop nut and Aerozona was closed today, but the Fellow # Atlantic parts 'gave' me 2 !!!!!!!!! |
This is a fairly simple task, But it has been almost 3 years since I 1st set the rod ends, and I ended up taking them completely |
out, setting them, then seeing the 'guide;ine; in the plans to set them to 3/4" redoing all of them to that guideline, and then fitting |
fine tuning, taking everything off, Torquing the stop buts and applying Torque seal to everything that could move, and then |
reinstalling. I had previously picked up all the necessary hardware and was able to install the AN3 10A bolts, washers and nuts, |
and get them Torque Sealed. Last steo fo the day was to attach the rudder cables. Fortunately I was able to finde the AN6 |
(drilled) bolts, and installed, torqued, and inserted the cotter keys. I was a little concerned about the rudder contacting the edge |
of the Vert Stab skin when fully deflected to either side, but checking the plans the 'full' deflection is WAY more than the 35 Max |
degrees, so I'm assuming the ruderpedals will reduce the throw somewhat. (We'll seee....) |
