It rained all last night and early today, probably the last rain we'll see until the monsoons this summer. Parker and I headed off to |
the airport today to glue in the door seals. I've tried 3 diferent automotive types of weatherstip / seal glue, and none of them |
worked worth a @#$!. I finally settled on the idea of ProSeal. that stuff sticks to ANYTHING , and it has the benefit of being able |
to be removed it I want to change/replace the door seal. I mixed up a couple of ozs. and put it into a plastic baggie. I cut a very |
small portion off of the corner of the bag, So that when squeezed it emits a ribbon about 3/32" wide. I rough cut a section of new |
door seal material and then appplied 1/2" ribbons every 1/2" along the edge of the cabin cover so that it would contact the U |
channel in the door seal. I did this in 3 sections: Top and front sides, bottom and 1/2 of back, and remainder of back and top. by |
using only the narrow bead, I was able to avoid getting glue on the exterior, there was a couple of places where it seeped out, |
but some solvent cleaned that up. I used a rubber mallet to set the seals firmily in place, and the closed each door to hold the |
seal in place while it cures over the weekend. It's a bugger to get the doors closed with the new seal material. Hopefully ti will |
compress a bit with the doors being closed for the weekend. Don't have any pcs of the process, as the camera batt was down, |
but got these pics as we prepared to leave. |
