I glassed the modification to the center console and then did a test fit of the console installed in the a/c. and found that the |
mounting plate was at an angle. the right side was about .15" further forward than the left side, and with the modification the |
console matches the bottom of the instrument panel and it's readily apparent. So.... I cut out an appropriate amount of the glas |
on the right side. bondoed in some foam for a backking and then laid up about 6 plys of cloth, and let that cure overnight. When I |
came back out and sanded the 'new ' glass smooth, and did another test fit, it looks like everything is now square. (actually the |
instrument panel is made with a slight angle to it, and that is some of what contributed to the situation). I used the bent mounting |
plate to match drill some #6 screw holes, and then riveted in a couple of new nutplates. Mixed up a batch of smoothprime, and |
painted on 3-4 coats with a brush , and let that harden overnight. Today, I sanded the smoothprime clean, and then prepped the |
surface of the console for paint, and shot 3 coats of the Sherwin williams interior paint. waiting about 10 minutes between coats. |
I reassembled the switches and Autopilot and Trim indications back into the mounting panel. I'll let everything dry well, and then |
reinstall/ reconnect into the aircraft. Hopefuly thei will allow for the Autopilot to function properly now. Thanks again Neil for the |
