I brought a bigger wrench from home today to get the castle nut on the bottom of the nose fork tightened. I also brought a scale |
to measure the breakout force. Although I 'lapped; the bellvue washers using emery paper (finishing w/ 220 grit) to 'pre break-in |
the washers. It was still a choice between 20 lbs and 34 lbs in order to get the castle nut on the cotter key hole. I opted for 34. I |
installed 2 parallel strips of 3M anti chaffe tape on the top of the nose gear leg to help with the lower cowl add/removal. Next task |
was to fine tune the aileron rigging. I ended up taking 2 more turns on the left aileron rod end to bring it 'up' . and that seems to |
have it pretty good between both sides. I'll wait til flying to see if any further rigging is needed. I removed the 2 960 washers on |
the bolt holding the VS and the elevatop stop. I replaced them with a single light washer, so now I've got plenty of thread showing |
beyond the nut. I disconnected the fuel lines from the fuel tank slipped on some clear plastic tubing. Got 5 gallons of fule from |
the self service pump. and proceeded to flush both tanks. I put 5 gallons in each side then rocked the wings as much as I could |
to slosh the fuel, and then drained the tanks. There was some minor specke that showed up in the bottom of the white bucket, |
but nothing major. I've already flushed the lines from the wing root to the fuel pump. reconnected th efule lines and tightened |
