Tried to finish up the wings today. Began by removing the Right landing light lens, and taking all of the masking tape off of it and |
then cleaning/polishing it. th epainter made quite a mess of it. Got that installed with the fowm rubber sealer to keep the light |
area dry. Then mounted the right wing tip.Ed Hayden gave me a great tip about the countersunk holes and the paint. That was to |
use the rotary debur tool I have chucked in an electric screwdriver, and remove the paint inside of the dimples. Ed said that if |
you don't do this, when the screw tightens down on the paint that it will chip/tear out paint around the dimple. He's right, even |
with the paint removed, I had to be very careful to not cause any paint to be removed. I made a quick trip to Aerozona and |
picked up a 100 stainless steel 6R6 screws for attaching the wing tips. Got all of the electrical conections made in both wing tips. |
And tested verified that Landing lishts,Nav lights, Pitot Heat, and Strobe light all appear to work. The stall warning buzzer is NOT |
working. After mounting both wing tips I attempted to final rig the ailerons. I was concerned that I would have some |
misallignment with the wing tips when th eailerons were 'in-trail' with the flaps. It turns out that I do, but its not as bad as it could |
be. I thought I had the ailerons rigged, but just before leaving I rechecked them and it looks like I've got some more work to do to |
