Picked up 2 1/2' of skeet today from Aerozona, and completed the installation of the heat muffs by connecting the right muff to |
the firewall heater control valve. positioned the appropriate adel clamps to provide clearance from engine mount. A couple of the |
scat tubes run very close to the exhaust stacks. while in Or. I saw Ed Hayden's engine . Ed used some heat shields to shield the |
exhaust. Aircraft Spruce sells them, but a Local A&P told me to make them myself. Turns out he was right. I had some extra |
stainless steel. cut a couiple of 2 1/4" wide strips, bent them around a a large round bucking bar, fashioned some mounting |
straps cut from the same stainless steel. Match drilled them, dimpled and riveted them to the shields. Used some stainless steel |
expandable clamps to hold them in place on the exhaust stacks. Another RV-10 builder Pat Thysen from Tx dropped by this |
afternoon for a visit. He's here for Copperstate tomorrow. Spent several hours exchangins stories and ideas. Pat's an A&P and I |
picked up several suggetions for imporving some housekeeping firewall forward. THANKS PAT! |
