This is my favorite part of building --- fiberglass! Began the clean-up of the intake ring repositioning, applied several coats of |
Micro mixed w/ the Hi-temp epoxy, a little akward to sand because of access. Trimmed both intake rings to 1" from the alum |
machined rings. also trimed the rear fiberglass 'air dams' off, I don't know if I will need them or not, but there is a provision on the |
baffling on #1 & #2 that allows some alum air dams to be added if required. At this poit I'm more concerned about heat than |
cooling. I took the calipers and measured the outside diameter and length of the oil filler tube, and then went to Auto Zone and |
found a chrome socket whose outside dimensions were within a couple thou. Wrappd the socket in 5 plys of glass. (getting it off |
the socket was fun!) test fit it to the oil filler neck after filing some notches for the safety wire.... and it's a Perfect Fit!!!! Thanks |
again Ed Hayden for the tip! Spent some time figuring out how to accomodate all of the openings I need in the back of the #5&6 |
baffles. 2 blast tubes for mags, 2 3 plug harness connectors, 2" scat to heat muffs. 4" Scat to oil cooler, AN4 fitting for fuel purge |
return line, and fitting for control cable for purge valve. Also I believe there are a couple of engine probes that muct fit inside of |
the plenum. since the plenum is VERY low, there Very little room for everything!!!!! |
