Remade / modified the forward portion of the #2 cyl baffle. (Twice, I bent it the wrong way the 1st time!) The problem is that the |
Van's bracket is .032" and is stiffened by a boxlike structure that provides some ridgity to the piece. The Prop control mounting |
bracket gets mounted to this piece, and with it being too flexible, I was concerned about unwanted variations in the prop pitch |
with flexing of this piece. With the plenum there is no place to fasten / stiffen the forward portion. So I decided to remake the |
forward portion from some .090" 2024 that I had. .062" woulld have probably worked, but I wanted it to be as stiff as possible. It |
was 'fun' getting the .090 to bend to the 30 degree angle required ! Once done, I matchdrilled it to the cross piece, then cutoff the |
front of the .032" and sandwiched it in between the cross piece and the .090" I cut the saftery wires and loosened (not removed) |
the screws on the face of the prop governor which allowed me to reposition the governor arm forward instead of aft. Tightened |
and re-safetied the screws, and then determined the position for the prop control bracket. Marked that, cut out the sides of the |
bracket (to allow screwdriver to access mounting screws on side of engine case, and wrench to tighten stop nuts). Then riveted |
everything together and mounted it all on the engine. Looks like eeverything is aligned and there is NO movement/flex of the |
prop mont as the control is exercised. |
