Well, IT finally happened, THE ENGINE GOT HUNG!!!!! HORAY, but even today had it's challenges. Before remounting the |
engine mount. We needed to add an eyeball firewall passthrough for the fuel purge valve return line. Then we remounted the |
engine mount only to find that the original placement I had for the purge valve return line was interferring with the engine mount! |
So foo came the mount, and we relocated the purge return line. (See pic0 and put a plug in the old hole and sealed it with a bolt |
and washers and Permatex. Back on with the engine mount only to discover that some bolt heads I used to plug holes that I |
drilled for a shunt that was interferring ALSO interferred. OFF with the mount again, replaced the bolts with countersunk screws, |
permatex and washers, back On with the mount, NO INTERFERRENCE THIS TIME!!!! Back ON with the nose gear. and then at |
long last THE HANGING!!!! took place. Moved the hoisted engine up close and personal and John Ackerman who helped all |
day, and I got the lower mounts, spacers, bolts, washers and nuts on, then tried the top, but we were a little too high, so we |
loosened the lower assemblies, droped the engine a smidge, and then were able to pull the upper ones by wrenching them in, |
Got everything cinched down and torqued, then stood back and enjoyed the moment. Our EAA chapter is having a project day |
tomorrow at my home so I need to clean things up a bit! |
