Boy, will I be glad when this is over! It seems like I've been working on this cowl for months! !st thing today, I mixed up a small |
amount of smooth prime and painted it on the cowl in small sections, and then used a credit card to squeege the mixture into the |
pinholes and voids. I went over the entire lower cowl this way. I painted the front of the cowl with the remaining mixture as this is |
the place that tends to get sanded through due to all of the compound curves and edges. the credit card trck turned out to work |
VERY well, there were virtually no pinholes detected when I sprayed the 1st major Heavy coat. I let that set up for several |
minutes and then went back out and sprayed another heavy coat. I was hoping that by putting on two heavy coats that I would |
not have to recoat after sanding but.... I started out sanding w/ 220 grit, hoping that would eliminate the need for recoating, but I |
found some spots that were going to need recoating anyway, so I switched to 100 grit and sanded the entire lower cowl. The |
front around the Ram air intake and the cooling intake rings and spinner ring were difficult due to the narrow amount of room and |
my fat fingers. I'm debating respraying, and thing that I will use the paint brush again and only recoat those areas where it's |
needed. We'll lsee how it feel about it in the am. |
