Finished preparing the lower cowl for priming (almost!). I removed the intake rings and cleaned up the flox that I had added to fill |
the areas created by the clay when pouring the initial ring retainers. then hand sanded the lower cowl w/ 100 grit. There are |
some areas around the ram air intake that will need several heavy coats of primer/filler to fill some creases. the Cam Loc's |
arrived before I left for Las Vegas, and I installed them on the oil door. these are the adjustable kind, Theya are realy neat, you |
rivet the base in place and then install the phillips head spring part and then screw then until they are tight and where you want |
them , then pull out a retaining pin, and they are locked at the right height/depth. If you need to change them later, you can insert |
a needle and reinsert the plastic pin and readjust them, Pretty cool. After I had them installed, I taped some Saran wrap around |
the door opening and mixed up some smooth Prime and spread it over the door, as there are some minor differences in height |
after riveting the hinge halves. I'll sand everything flush tomorrow and then its ready for Smooth Prime. the Spinner arrived from |
Aero Composites also, si I can finish that and prime it as well. |
