More frustration than progress today dispite the time spent. I am really looking for a good and tight fit betweeen the cowl and the |
fuse, I had it all sanded basically flush and then when I mounted the hinge and the hinge pins and clecoed and drilled, everything |
seemed to pull away from the fuse. I had it sanded to a 1/64 gap, but now with it drilled and clecoed it's more like 1/16", _* |
(&^%#^%*&. It looks like I'm going to have to go back and do some gap filling similar to the doors when I'm finished with the |
mounting. The plans that Will James provides are not nearly as detailed as the Van's plans. Will tells you WHAT to do, but not |
HOW to do it. I've been spoiled by Van's plans that tell you both. Since talking to Will and another -10 builder I'm aware that |
there is VERY little extra material at the front of the cowl, so I'm trying to be carefull to ensure that there will be enough material |
for flush horizontal seams. It's very tight. Next step was "leveling" the bottom edge of the top cowl. this ammounted to making |
sure that I could lay a straight edge across the front of the cowl with no gaps. then using the bottom front corners of the upper |
cowl, I placed a straight edge along both sides and placed the aft end on the lowwer rear corner of the upper cowl. I then |
trimmed/sanded the sided for a 'straight' edge. this is the edge that will be used to 'level' the upper edge of the bottom cowl. |
there's not a lot of extra glass so I'm trying to be very careful. the problem is that every time, you take the bottom off and back |
on, all of the reference marks seem to change. !$#2@$1@%^$& |
