Today I tackled the cabin cover. For some reason I was dreading this, i don't know if it was the fiberglass, the mess or just the |
size. It turned out to be not that much of an issue. I moved the cover outside to avoid the bulk of the mess, despite the 108 |
degree temp today, it worked out MUCH BETTER than doing in the shop/garage and then cleaning for 1/2 day. Some have |
complained about it taking too long to cut the glass, I used a hogh speed electric cutoff tool, with a metal cutting disc, and it went |
through the stuff like butter! the scribe lines are faint to non existant, even where they can be seen they don't match Van's plan's. |
I ended up scribing lines according to the plans, well see how that works out, the one place where I had to guess was at the |
forward position where the front of the bottom door frame meets with the fwd fuse/panel assembly, I could detect absolutely no |
scribe lines in this area, so I checked Tim's site and Randy's for pics, took some measurements from my fuse and then cut |
leaving a healthy margin for test fit. Everything is 'rough trimmed'and sanded smoot. I'll try a test fit later tonight when my son |
gets home to help. We'll see how much more needs to be taken off ( and hopefully not put back!) |
