Finished off the instrument panel mounting today. First off I marked the top edge of the panel even with the top edge of the fowd |
fuse deck, and then cut and sanded it to match. theres' still some gaps between them that I want to cover with an upholstered |
'bumper that will fit over both of these surfaces and should privide a nive cosmetic finish. I made some brackets out of .062 and |
mounted them to the fuse side skins and to the bottom corners of the instrument panel. put 2 #8 nutplates on each corner of the |
instrument panel. This thing is rock solid now. I also tied the instrument panel centersection to the top of the center console with |
2 #8 nutplates and screws as well. Put a couple of rivets in the old holes on each side of the skin where the old panel cross |
brace went. the last thing was to fix one of the corners in the pilot panel frame/insert that was about 3/16" too low. A little Bondo |
and some sanding and that got all 4 corners level. |
