Exhaust Extensions - A Temporary Test
Completed 8/7/2006 - Added 8/17/2006
Got these 6" exhaust extensions from
Larry Vetterman to test out and see if it made any difference on tunnel
temps. For those who don't know, my temps aren't anything
unreasonable. My tunnel is fairly cool on top, but warm just
within a few inches of the tunnel, down near the floor. I can lay
my bare foot on the tunnel and hold it there with no problem.
But, even though I don't have a "problem", there is still room
for improvement, so I'm going to try a few things to see how good I can
make it. If you haven't already read the tunnel heat section of
my tips page, read that too. I'm also going to add a mechanical
fuel pump cooling shroud soon.
What I found is that I didn't notice any real difference in noise,
and/or heat after adding these extensions. I also didn't notice a
performance change. I may actually just spend the money to have
new one-piece tailpipes made, since the new ones are coming longer than
the ones I have. It may not make a noticible difference, but it
can't hurt, I guess.
